luxman lv 105u review | luxman f 105 luxman lv 105u review I loved the Tube series, and the LV-105 was one heck of an integrated for the price. With due respect, compared to brands like H/K it would put them to shame in any sound room, in depth and musicality. I would compare HK closer to Yamaha's tonal quality and put Luxman in a higher bracket. $300.00

I would compare HK closer to Yamaha's tonal quality and put Luxman in a higher bracket. Listening to a good 33,3 LP with an Yamaha MC 9 cartridge, I will hear a large 3d soundstage, tube middle and top, and a deep bass. It is very suited to large JBL speakers, using a pair of L7´s for the moment. Hope my pictures will be to some use to future renovations of this wonderful sounding amp. /SWIN.
It was beyond my knowledge base to repair the amp so I send it to a guy I found in Kansas, Steve who just sold a modified LV-105 Recap on the Bay so I know he has experience with LV-105's. I decided to Recap after he fixed the Pre-heat switch so . Luxman amps from this generation share a common look: my LV-111 and LV-105u and this LV-109 all sport an all-black dress and similar controls for volume, balance, loudness and bass and treble. Reason I'm asking is that there is unit in a second hand store for about 0 which looks to be in very good cosmetic nick. Hence the LV-105u is the most sought after. Yes, the original transistors 2SK405 and 2SJ115 are slightly difficult to find but they can be substituted with 2SK1530 and 2SJ201 or 2SK1529 and 2SJ200, which are still available. The tubes also are easily found.
Best info I ever found on the LV-105u: (A LOT OF) DETAILED INFO The reviews of this amp have an astounding range - from the wildly exuberant to the 'avoid at all costs'.
An Old Geezer. It had good initial reviews and was a hot seller partly based on the historic good reputation for a number of prior pieces but it seemed that over time owners were not as happy as they expected. I have an LV-105 (NOT a “U”) US 120VAC that went dark on the main board. Small xformer still functions, lights up tubes and front panel LEDs. Main board not to much.
