I love the 214270 for all the reasons you stated and the 126710 for being so unapologetic Rolex! I'm not ready to go only Explorer yet but can appreciate your wisdom. This is the exact combo I want. Now I have a Cartier, Calibre de Cartier 42mm, and my Explorer I 36mm. Mine is the smaller, older model, so it has a different dial: polished, not matt, and the 3,6,9 are not sold white gold, but white filled like the markers, exept not luminescent.
